Project manta Gallery

Cocos Dive proudly supports and is actively involved with Project Manta, a national group of dedicated manta researchers established in 2007. 

Their aim is to increase the knowledge and understanding of manta rays around Australia.  The project is based out of the University of Queensland in Brisbane, with researchers based out of Murdoch University in Western Australia and Deakin University in Victoria.

Cocos Dive encourages our divers to capture the manta bellies, their “thumbprints”; to assist with identifying previously named mantas and identifying new mantas. Photograph a new manta and you have naming rights.
